Message From our Head Teacher Mr Ken Battye.

Schools change considerably over time and often the picture that outsiders have of a school is dated and no longer bears much relationship to the reality. This school is no exception. Twelve years ago Essendine had fewer than 210 children on roll. The roll is now 475 making Essendine the second largest primary school in Westminster. This reflects the increasing popularity of Essendine with local parents/carers.

To meet this increase in demand for places the school has grown and we have well established classrooms, a school library, two computer suites, an Art/DT Room and a Music Room. The reception and nursery outdoor area has expanded to create a stimulating learning environment with the playground being resurfaced and developed to create a stimulating play and learning and environment. In May 2008 we opened our ECM Building which was redesigned and developed and provides opportunities for community use such as mother & toddler groups, play centres, adult education classes etc .

As the social and ethnic mix of the local community has changed so has our intake. What has not changed is our beliefs. All children are equally valued at Essendine, irrespective of their background. Our teaching and learning programmes are designed to get the best potential for each and every of child. I can promise you that if you choose Essendine for your child then the education and school life that they will experience will be of the highest calibre and one that they will thoroughly enjoy.

Our Ofsted inspections in May 2007 & May 2008 can be found on this school website and are seen as a compliment to the hard work put in by the staff of the school to ensure that the children of Essendine Primary School receive a high quality education, and the inspection reports give recognition that we are working hard to continually improve the school. However the best comments and judgements talk about the outstanding characteristics of our children and their attitudes and behaviours.

We are also very proud to have achieved and received the School Achievement Award; ActiveMark Gold; ArtsMark Gold; Healthy Schools Award; Active Sports Mark and the Silver Eco Schools Award. These are all nationally awards and to have achieved so many is a credit to the aspirations and work of the governors and staff of the school.

We at Essendine are very proud of our school and we hope you enjoy visiting our website and experiencing all that we offer and all that we do with such lovely smiling and delightful children.
